Duplex Butterfly Valves Duplex Butterfly Valves are customized double-flap butterfly valve solutions for high-pressure and strong corrosion scenarios. The valve body is made of duplex stainless steel (2205/2507) or rubber-lined ductile iron, with a pressure resistance of 2.5-10.0MPa. The corrosion resistance exceeds the ASTM A995 standard and is suitable for harsh working conditions such as petrochemicals and seawater desalination. The double-flap linkage structure reduces the opening and closing torque by 40%, and the metal/fluororubber seal leakage rate is ≤0.001% VOL, which meets the high standards of API 6D and ISO 5208. DN50-DN1200 full-bore, equipped with electric/pneumatic actuators, and intelligent positioning response <3 seconds. 1. Duplex steel is pressure-resistant and corrosion-resistant

1. What is the pressure limit of the duplex steel butterfly valve? Can it be used for high-pressure steam pipelines?
The conventional pressure range of duplex steel butterfly valves is 2.5-10.0MPa (PN25-PN100), of which 2507 duplex steel can withstand a maximum pressure of 10.0MPa. For high-pressure steam pipelines (such as working conditions with temperature ≤425℃ and pressure ≤6.4MPa), metal hard seals + high-temperature resistant coatings (such as Stellite alloy cladding) can be selected, and pass the 1.5 times nominal pressure water pressure test (maintaining pressure for 30 minutes without leakage), meeting the ASME B16.34 standard requirements.
 

2. How to verify the corrosion resistance of duplex steel butterfly valves? Is it suitable for seawater environment?
Duplex stainless steel (2205/2507) has a pitting resistance coefficient (PREN) ≥ 32, and a chloride ion corrosion resistance of more than 20,000ppm. It has passed the H₂S stress corrosion test of the NACE MR0175 standard. In seawater environment (chloride ion concentration ≈ 20,000ppm), its annual corrosion rate is <0.01mm, which is much lower than the 0.05mm/year of 316L stainless steel. It is suitable for offshore platforms, desalination pipelines and other scenarios, and provides third-party corrosion detection reports.

 

3. Will the double-flap linkage structure increase the risk of valve failure? What is the maintenance cost?
The double flaps are rigidly connected through the central axis, and the structural redundancy design improves reliability. After 100,000 opening and closing tests, there is no shaft deformation; self-lubricating bearings (PA66 + molybdenum disulfide) are used, and the lubrication-free maintenance cycle is ≥5 years.
